Summit

Summit is a neighbourhood within Hamilton, Ontario, which is situated in the Greater Hamilton metropolitan area.

Transportation

Driving is usually the preferred method to get around in Summit. Most houses for sale are a rather short car ride from the nearest highway, such as Highway 403, and finding a place to park is generally easy. The bike is a fairly poor means of transportation in Summit because the bicycling infrastructure is not very well-developed, and there are a good number of slopes for cyclists to brave. Most homes for sale in this part of Hamilton are located in areas that are also not very suitable for walking as carrying out daily needs is very inconvenient.

Services

Summit does not have any high schools or primary schools. Moreover, there are only a very small number of daycares and therefore they can be a very long walk away. Regarding food, home buyers in Summit almost always have to rely on a car to purchase their groceries.

Character

Summit is relatively calm, thanks to the presence of very few pedestrians. Public green spaces aren't well-distributed, which results in them being rather challenging to access from the majority of locations within this part of Hamilton. Still, there are around 10 parks close by for residents to relax in.

Housing

Single detached homes are the most common housing type, representing most dwellings in Summit, while the remainder are mainly mobile homes. This part of the city also has a good variety of unit sizes; homes range from lofts to four or more bedrooms. Homeowners occupy roughly 90% of the units in Summit and renters occupy the remainder. The homes in this area are quite old, because about 45% of its dwellings were built pre-1960, while most of the remaining buildings were built in the 1960s and the 1980s.
